2017 MDC Hartford CSO Repair
When the Capen Street CSO collapsed, VMS Construction was hired by the MDC to perform emergency repairs. Work included 24 hour bypass pumping, connection to an existing 8' x 8' concrete culvert, installation of approximately 120 linear feet of new 24" overflow piping up to 20 feet deep, replacement of a 5 foot diameter weir manhole, repair of 10" sanitary sewer, re-routing of 6" sanitary sewer laterals & reconnection of CSO monitoring equipment.
Work commenced Monday November 13, 2017 and by working 12 to 14 hour shifts, was completed Tuesday November 21st, in time to pave the road & open to traffic for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The old CSO was plugged from inside the culvert & filled with flo-fill the following week, to complete all work items.
